Chasing Fantasies
Imagine being given a million dollars. Imagine being born into money and material possessions. Imagine your name carrying influence that would open any door for you. Imagine being someone else. Imagine being thin and beautiful. Imagine being in a different family. Imagine living in a different city or having different friends.
It's fun to fantasize about what life would be like if... We play out exciting adventures in our mind of what it must be like to have more money or a better job or more influence or to be thinner or to have different friends and our fantasies never include realities like debt, addictions, divorce, stress, or many of the other things that are often accompanied with any and every socio-economic class in society.
Proverbs 12:11 says... He who works His land will have abundant food, but he who chases fantasies lacks judgment.
Most people think they work pretty hard. Most people believe that they work harder than a lot of other people. You could probably name someone right now who think you work harder than, but they think they work plenty hard. Abundant food is more than just hard work. This Proverb says He who works his land will have abundant food. Your land is significant of what you own, who you are, the qualities, gifts, skills and strengths you possess and the resources at your disposal. Work with what you have and have abundant food. Food symbolizes what you need. But this scripture doesn't say you will only have what you need. It says you will have abundant food. You will have what you need in abundance.
The very thing you fantasize about can be yours if you work with what you have. Our culture seems to breed a discontentment that is fueled by chasing fantasies. It's a deception to keep you from having what God wanted you to have all along. God gave you all you need to have all you need in abundance.
Have you gotten caught up in chasing fantasies and missed out on what God intended you to have all along?
God Bless you Lori. This is my first time viewing you site and I like it. Your topic of chasing fantasies really touched my heart, because when I walk out site or turn on the TV all you see are people selling fantasies. But little do they know that when you have the Lord and Savior by your side there is no need for fantasies, the word of God says it all “He who works His land will have abundant food” that passage says it all. Believe in the Lord and trust him and you will have an abundance of blessings. God Bless You.

Hi Lori,
Happy Monday,
I couldn't imagine being anywhere other than where I am. I see where God is taking me and it is my fantasy. And although it's exciting to think of where He's guiding me, it's just as much my fantasy to to be an active participant in the "getting there." My exciting fantasy in my mind is my reality because that's what I want it to be. My fantasy is that God's will be done in my life. When we have a completely open mind and allow God to guide and direct our paths, every moment is a dream come true. I want to enjoy my children, grow with God every day, enjoy every precious moment God gives us, see significance in everything and see purpose in everyone.
My life is my fantasy...not someone else's life...Thank you God.
have an awesome week Lori
love and blessings,
Shelley

Yes. I get caught up in chasing Christian fantasies. For example: if certain things were different, then I would have a better ministry for Christ. Lately, I've been trying to be satisfied "working the land" that I have. I can keep plenty busy right here where I am.

In my BC days, I chased one fantasy after another always falling flat on my face. As I sit here responding it occurs to me, again, that I am now living my life in complete contentment. Sure, I long for other things once in a while, but I can live without them and still have joy. My biggest fantasy was always to have a loving husband and father for my children. It didn't quite turn out how I expected in the natural but let me tell you, in the supernatural - I have a perfect Husband and perfect Father for myself and my children. God is soooo good.

Brilliant blog. For the most part I can say that I am working my land, but this was not always true. My husband John has shown me what this means. It took me a while to get it, but I'm finally understanding the importance of staying off other peoples land:) Again Lori, great and important blog.

I chased the perfect Betty Crocker white picket fence life for many years. I never thought I would have to be the bread winner of the family. I wanted to stay home and do all the "motherly stuff", but then Lori, I realized one day, even though I work in the corporate world, I can still be a mom. The "motherly stuff" doesn't wash away because the white picket fence is missing. God has given me in abundance, my three kids Colleen, Elijah, and Isaac. What more could I ask for?
